Indiana’s only toll road follows the Michigan state line westbound to Chicago, never straying much more than ten miles away. Tonight Jane and I spent about an hour knocking on doors. Sure it was cold, damp, and windy but nine more households signed up. We got some great stories and at least one volunteer who is a laid-off Nishikawa-Standard worker. She appears to have been partially transformed by the minority status organizing effort and now knows "we have to protect ourself at work."
